On Friday, February 21, the whole school is headed to Jackson Ward to visit local organization Art 180, where they will hear from Art 180 Deputy Director, former Richmond School Board member, and current 9th District Councilperson Nicole Jones.

Nicole Jones is a people-first cultivator with a proven record of creating safe spaces and structural change for justice. Her steadfast presence, commitment to self and community love, compassion, and respect show up in her work across the greater Richmond region, particularly in her role as Deputy Director of ART 180.

As Deputy Director, Nicole is responsible for donor development and retention, special events, programs incorporating Restorative Justice practices, and operations management. Her resilience and leadership stem from her core belief that lived experiences can drive action and advance equity, diversity, and inclusion practices in fundraising, education, and local government. Nicole is an empathetic and dedicated community organizer with a deep passion for helping others. Her greatest impact has been her systems thinking approach, where she has developed, created, and implemented new community/coalition-building and engagement strategies to shift paradigms and rewrite narratives.

On Friday, February 28, mind-body therapist and wellness educator Ashley Williams will be speaking to students about her work to create a more conscious, compassionate, and connected world. As the creator of The Well Collective, an intergenerational community space for well-being in historic Shockoe Bottom that offers holistic health and wellness workshops, classes, and diverse healing modalities.

On Friday, February 28, Ashley Clarke, a Certified Public Accountant, personal trainer, and nutrition coach with a passion for all things exercise and nutrition, will also be speaking to students. The author of an interactive children’s book, Ashley seeks to give children the tools to cope with life’s daily challenges and support healthy bodies and brain power by using movement and encouragement to move from doubt to confidence.

A proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Ashley is a graduate of James Madison University and Virginia Commonwealth University.
